NRL22 Canada is a branch of the National Rifle League (NRL) that focuses on precision rifle shooting with .22 calibre rifles. The goal of NRL22 is to make precision rifle shooting more accessible to communities across Canada. The league provides a structured format for monthly matches, allowing shooters of all skill levels to participate and improve their marksmanship.

Each match consists of a series of stages that test a shooter’s ability to engage targets at various distances and under different conditions. The targets are typically made of AR500 steel and come in various shapes and sizes, challenging shooters to adapt their techniques. NRL22 Canada emphasizes safety, sportsmanship, and community, fostering a supportive environment for both new and experienced shooters.

Participants can compete individually or as part of a team, and scores are tracked to determine rankings at local, regional, and national levels. The league also offers resources such as official rules, target packages, and prop lists to help match directors set up and run events smoothly. Membership in NRL22 Canada provides access to exclusive content, discounts on gear, and the opportunity to qualify for national and international competitions.

NRL22 Canada has grown rapidly, attracting a diverse group of enthusiasts who share a passion for precision shooting. The league’s dedication to promoting the sport and supporting its members has made it a popular choice for shooters looking to hone their skills and connect with like-minded individuals. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a newcomer to the sport, NRL22 Canada offers a welcoming and challenging environment to test your abilities and enjoy the thrill of precision rifle shooting

What to expect at these practice sessions at TMSA?

We get together in the morning and set up the targets and props for the practice. Usually there will be 5 stages to practice on.

We select a random Course of Fire (COF) from the NRL22 repository for the practice session to make practice more meaningful.

People would take turns at the stages, working on their timing, aiming, positioning and transitions.

These sessions will give you a sense of your strengths and weaknesses that you can work on.

What equipment do you need for a practice session at TMSA?

Here is the minimum set of equipment you need:

  • Rifle chambered in 22LR with bolt or semi-auto action
  • Scope with 8+ magnification power
  • Ammo (at least 50-100 rounds)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Chamber flag
  • Magazine for your rifle (better if you have two as some stages require more than 10 rounds, and there are stages with mandatory magazine change)

Additional equipment (Don’t worry if you don’t have these items, in most cases you can borrow these from other people at the session)

  • Bi-pod that attaches to your rifle
  • Support bags
  • Range finder
  • Binoculars
  • Knee pads
  • Painter’s tape or a DOPE card + sharpie
